The donkey reminds me of God’s desire that I serve him with humility. I am reminded that although the donkey is not glamorous, he has important work to do.

Cows are creatures of routine. If there was a cow present at Jesus’ birth, it would likely have been annoyed at all the commotion.

I remember, as a child, playing with the Nativity scene. I always placed the sheep near the front, close to Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus.
