What are the Core Values of Youth Ministry @ LCC
1. To be a safe place where students can come and just be who they are.
2. To be an inviting place where students know that they are wanted and cared for.
3. to be a place where students can come to know God through scripture.
4. to be a place where where students can grow in their relationship with Christ.
5. To be a fun place where kids can be kids
Theme for the year: " Reveal"
Reveal….the movement from being previously hidden to something open and uncovered
Reveal…. To strip away, exposed, declare and be known
Genesis reveals the way things began. It’s a story of our beginning where God reveals his creation and brings order and purpose to it.
Adam and Eve out in the open, uncovered and exposed created in the image of God
Creation concealed... Isn’t it interesting that after Adam and Eve eat from the forbidden tree their first act is to recognize their nakedness. They feel shame and sew clothes to cover themselves.
Reveal in conflict... God is in the business of revealing himself. Scripture gives us a view into a God who’s core disposition is bent on telling us who he is, his purpose and his love for us. But the nature of sin at its very core is to conceal and hide, the very opposite of the God who created us….conflict
Redeemed revelation... Christ, the revelation of God, took on flesh and broke the chains concealment in the resurrection and called us to be children of Light, to move away from darkness, from concealment and back into a revealed state of being.
Reveal
Youth Ministry for 2009 wants to ask two fundamental questions
Who am I? (How did and how is God revealing himself?)
Whom am I? (Discovering our purpose and value in light of who God is)
